Co-designing better experiences for people living with learning disabilities
Problem
The Health and Social Care Board understand that traditional consultation methods for the design of learning disability services are ineffective. This is because of its rigid and often inflexible nature. Improved consultation is essential so that people have greater opportunities to influence decisions.
Approach
We worked with Health & Social Care, the Strategic Investment Board and ‘Tell it like it is’. Together we designed a service design toolkit that can be used across the five health and social care trusts to improve consultation, collect data and understand how this data can influence the redesign of services.
Outcome
The toolkit will be used to make it easier for people with learning disabilities to respond to government consultations. This will ensure that their experience will have an impact on the design of future learning disability services.
