The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Designer with strong experience in UX and service design to lead digital service projects. You’ll work closely with clients, guide multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior designers. Projects often focus on digital health and public sector transformation, so experience in healthcare design and familiarity with GOV.UK Service Standard will be a real advantage.
Your work might include:
- Designing inclusive digital services for users
- Creating service blueprints to support the modernisation of organisations
- Facilitating workshops that align stakeholders around shared outcomes
- Translating research into prototypes that can be tested and refined with real users
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex design projects from discovery to delivery
- Plan and facilitate collaborative workshops with stakeholders
- Conduct user research and turn insights into actionable design decisions
- Produce service blueprints, experience maps, wireframes, and interaction models
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, user-centred outcomes
- Mentor and support junior and graduate designers
- Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and partners
- Contribute to Big Motive’s design practice through learning, reflection, and knowledge sharing
About you
- 5+ years in service design, UX, and/or product design
- Strong organisational skills and commercial awareness
- Excellent communication and client-facing experience
- Experience in digital health (desirable)
- Familiarity with GOV.UK Service Standard (desirable)
- Ability to lead design projects with clarity and purpose
- A mindset grounded in curiosity, collaboration, creativity & craft (Big Motive’s values)
