Building public confidence through design

From housing to libraries, parks to planning, Dublin City Council (DCC) services touch every part of civic life. But their sprawling digital presence was fragmented, outdated, and difficult to use. Big Motive partnered with DCC to reimagine how the city connects with its communities online. This long-term digital transformation work is focused on creating a connected, inclusive, and citizen-centred platform.

A unified civic experience, built for everyone

The new system connected microsites, streamlined forms, and standardised design patterns citywide. Beyond usability, we focused on accessibility compliance and content clarity, giving the Council tools, training, and confidence to maintain the platform independently. Every element was designed with long-term sustainability in mind.

Scaling Success with Voter.ie

This transformation extended to voter.ie, which we helped evolve from a local resource to a national online voter registration platform. Our insights informed design recommendations that helped secure €3 million in government funding - making voting simpler, more secure, and more accessible for citizens across Ireland.
